How
to be part of DiScOmBoBuLAte
DiScOMBoBuLaTe is always
looking for new writers/performers.
If you write your own material and you like the idea of
getting up in front of people and entertaining them with as
polished a performance as possible, then there's a few
things you can do.
1. Come along a few times
and see what the set-up is. That way you'll get an idea
about what works, as well as the type of thing we're
looking for.
2. E-mail us with a short biog note and a few words abut
why you'd like to be part of DiScOmBoB. Attach a piece of
(your own) writing you think would be suitable for a
DiscomBoB performance - preferably something that takes no
more than 5 minutes to introduce and read. If you're a
success, you'll be asked back to do a longer slot some
time. It can be poetry, prose, dramatic monologue, song, or
even a two-hander. It doesn't need to have a comic element,
but it must be aimed at engaging the audience.
3. DiscomBoBulAte is NOT an Open Mike night. All those who
read are invited based on the quality of their work and
their ability to read/perform it. Open Mike nights are good
for building your confidence and getting a sense of how an
audience reacts to your work and your delivery.
4. Sadly, there's no payment. DiScOmBoBUlAtOrs all agree to
take part for nothing. That way we can keep ticket entry
low and be experimental if we want to.
5. You don't have to be well known or experienced, you just
have to be talented, keen and have a good piece of writing.
We want to promote established writers doing new things, as
well as new writers hungry for development.
We hope that's helpful. If
you want/need to know more email Ian and Magi through the
CONTACT US page.
